General Notes: James Mumford Corbin and Daisy D. Dugger wedding; November 18, 1887
On Wednesday night at 8 o'clock, a very pretty little wedding ceremony occurred at the Christian church on Washington street, the report of which on account of a press of matter, was omitted in yesterdays issue.
The happy parties, who contracted to meet life's troubles and share it's joys together, were Mr. J. Mumford Corbin and Miss Daisy D. Dugger, of Washington street, this city. Long before the hour appointed for the ceremony, a goodly assemblage had gathered at the church and when the bridal party had arrived, the edifice was well filled. Mr. Corbin is a young man well known in the city for his sober, industrious qualities and the bride is a young lady, well beloved by all her large circle of friends and acquaintances.
To the strains of the beautiful wedding march, promptly at 8 o'clock, the bride and groom entered the church and surrounded by their immediate relatives, marched to the foot of the altar. Then Rev. W. H. Bagby, in a peculiarly beautiful ceremony, impressively conducted, united the couple and Miss Daisy D. Dugger became Mrs. J. M. Corbin. Immediately at the close of the ceremony, the couple were driven to the grooms residence where his aunt and sisters, acting as hostesses, a very pleasant reception was held, which was attended only by the relatives and a few chosen friends of the happy couple. Quite a number of beautiful and useful presents were found by them on their arrival at their home. Among them were many remembrances from the members of Engine Company No. 1, of which the groom was for a long time a member.
Thus, start out in life's voyage, two more young and happy ones who have only, as yet, met the bright side of their existance. May the fates decree them no great sorrows, no tempestuous storms, but may their life's bark ever be found on the lee side of adversity and may they finally reach that much desired port that is looked forward to and desired to be made by all the voyagers over life's ocean.
